Kitteh Cake!

At the request of my niece, she wanted a "kitty cake" for her birthday. I was unsure as to how to go about this as I received a description of how she wanted it: Grey fur with pink stripes. This was easily accomplished by taking the near white fondant and adding a bit of food dye until the right color was achieved. Since making ears would be a bit out of my league, I cut the board it sat on into the outline of a cat's head and used pink fondant to accent what would be the inner ear. Added a collar out of the sheer fact that smoothing the fondant did not go as well as I hoped. I made a gumpaste bell and attached it to the collar with a bit of frosting. This was simply fun since it was my niece and the amount of detail was not too much but enough for me to work hard on it.

Materials: Marshmallow fondant, gumpaste, white cake, food coloring, buttercream frosting
